Lead Database (Find leads)
Find new companies to sell to without leaving the app. Describe the kind of company you want, see right away how many match, tick the ones you like and add them to your workspace. You can add the people who run them too, with their work emails.
Looking around is free. The count, the charts and the first 25 companies cost nothing. Credits are used only when you show more companies or add companies, people and emails.
Use cases
| Situation | What Find leads helps you do |
|---|---|
| You want more customers like your best ones | Type the websites of a few companies you love working with, or start from a company you already have, and see more companies like them. |
| You sell in one country or to one size of company | Pick countries, company size and yearly revenue, and see how many companies match before you spend anything. |
| You need someone to contact | Add the owners, founders or top managers of each company, with their work emails. |
| You run the same search every month | Save the search and open it again in one click. Share it so your whole team can use it. |
| You already have some of these companies | Companies already in your workspace are left out of the list, so you never pay to see or add them twice. |
Before you begin
- Find leads is a page in the app. Open Features and use the Open button on the Lead database card. Once an admin adds Find leads to the sidebar, it is one click away.
- Everyone in the workspace can open the page and look around. Adding companies needs an Admin or Editor role. Without it, the page tells you You need edit access to add companies. and shows no tick boxes.
- Credits are shared by your whole team and refill every month: 100 on Starter, 1,000 on Pro and 10,000 on Business. Nothing is charged for people or emails that are not found.
- Credit costs are 1 per company, 2 per person and 10 per work email found.
- To add companies you also need at least one group that shows your Companies table and that you can add records to.
Describe the companies you want
- Open Find leads.
- On the left, use the groups under Filters. Click a group name to fold it open or closed. The page remembers which groups you keep open. A small badge such as 2 set shows how many filters are set inside a group.
- Set any of these. Every filter is optional, but you need at least one to search.
| Group | Filter | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| What they do | Describe the companies you want | A sentence, up to 400 characters, for example accounting firms that work with small businesses. |
| What they do | Keywords | Up to 20 short words. Type one and press Enter. |
| What they do | Tools they use | Up to 20 tool names, for example a software product. Type one and press Enter. |
| What they do | Find look-alikes | A switch. See the next section. |
| Where | Countries | Pick up to 30 countries. The list is searchable. |
| Company size | Company size (employees) | One or more of 1–10, 11–50, 51–200, 201–500, 501–1,000, 1,000–5,000, 5,000–10,000 and Over 10,000. |

| More filters | Business model | Sells to businesses, Sells to consumers, Sells to government, Online store, Media, Services, Mobile apps, Online software. |
| More filters | Latest funding round | Seed, Angel, Venture, Series A to E, Debt financing, Other. |
| More filters | Founded | From year and To year, between 1800 and 2100. If you enter them the wrong way round, they are swapped for you. |
- Press Search. The results only change when you press Search, so you can set several filters first. While you have unsearched changes, the page reminds you with Filters changed. Press Search to update the results.
- Use Clear all to start again. Each filter you set also shows as a small chip under the count, and the x on a chip removes just that filter. Press Search again to see the result.
- Use the small button next to Search (Hide filters) to fold the filter panel away and give the results more room. Show filters brings it back.
Until you set a filter, the page shows Find new companies to sell to and asks you to pick a country, a company size or describe your ideal customer.
What you see
- A big line such as 12,431 companies match. While counting it says Counting companies…. The count is for the whole market, so it can include companies you already have. The list below leaves those out.
- Charts (click to fold them): By company size and By yearly revenue (USD) always appear. By country appears when you pick two or more countries. Hover over a bar to see its number. Click a bar to narrow your search to that value: the filter is replaced by that single choice and the search runs at once.
- A Companies table with the first 25 new companies. Each row shows the name and website, What they do, Location, Employees, Industries, Tools they use, Founded, Funding and a LinkedIn link. Click the website or LinkedIn link to open it in a new tab.
- If nothing is left to show, the table says No new companies to show. The matches may already be in your CRM.
Find companies like your best customers
There are three ways in. All of them fill the same Find look-alikes list and use the other filters as well.
Type websites.
- Under What they do, turn on Find look-alikes.
- Type the website of a company you like, for example acme.com, and press Enter. A full address such as https://www.acme.com/about is cleaned up to acme.com for you. Add up to 10 websites.
- Anything that does not look like a website is flagged with These don’t look like websites and followed by the offending entries.
- Press Search. Turning Find look-alikes off clears the list.
Pick from your own companies. With Find look-alikes on, use Or pick a company from your CRM to add that company’s website to the list. It disappears once the list holds 10.
Start from a record.
- Open a company or a contact, and click Find similar companies in its header. Or tick several companies or contacts in a list and click Find similar companies in the bar that appears.
- Find leads opens already looking for companies like them, with a count and the first 25 results.
- For a contact, the website behind their work email is used, or else the website of their linked company. Records with no website are left out and you are told how many (1 record had no company website and was left out.). If none has a website you get This record has no company website to go on.
- At most 10 websites are used. Longer lists are cut with Only the first 10 companies are used., and up to 100 ticked records are looked at.
The Find similar companies button does not appear in the browser extension. Open the web app to use it.
Choose which companies to add
- The first 25 new companies are listed for free.
- Click Show 25 more to load the next 25. The button shows its cost, for example · 25 credits. A page you already showed in the last hour is free to show again. A search shows up to 40 pages, which is 1,000 companies.
- Tick the companies you want. The tick box in the table header, Tick the companies shown, ticks or clears the whole list on screen. Your ticks stay while you load more rows.
- Once every company on screen is ticked and more match, a line offers Tick all 12,431 matches. This adds up to 1,000 companies at a time, and the line says Up to 1,000 are added at a time. Afterwards, unticking a company leaves out only that one. Only tick the 25 shown goes back to what is on screen.
- If you change the search, your ticks are cleared and the page says Your filters changed, so the ticked companies were cleared.
Add them to your workspace
As soon as one company is ticked, a bar stays at the bottom of the page. It shows how many are ticked (3 companies ticked) and a Clear link.
- Key people (switch). Turn it on to add the people who run each company as contacts. A button such as 2 per company opens the options:
- People per company: from 1 to 5. The default is 2.
- Roles: click to turn on or off Owner, Founder, Top management (CEO, CFO…), Partner, Vice president, Head of department, Director and Manager. If you turn on none, the first three are used.
- Work emails (switch). Turn it on to look for each person’s work email. It needs Key people to be on, and switches off if you turn Key people off.
- Group. Choose where the new companies go, or leave No group. Only groups that show your Companies table and that you can add to are listed. With No group, the first such group in your sidebar order is used. New contacts go into the same group when it shows your Contacts table, and otherwise into another group you can add contacts to.
- Check the cost. The bar shows the most it can cost, for example Up to 40 credits, and below it how many credits you have left (940 of 1,000 credits left this month). It is a ceiling, not a bill: only what is actually found is charged.
- Click Add 3 to CRM. A message says Adding companies in the background. You’ll get a notification when it’s done.
Notes on the bar:
- If your credits left may not cover the most it can cost, the number turns red and a line says This may need more credits than you have left. Adding stops when they run out.
- If you have Autopilots that react to new records, the bar warns you: they run once for each company when you add 100 or fewer. Adds of more than 100 do not start your Autopilots for each one.
- The button is disabled while another add is running, when you have no credits left, or for a moment while the page works out the cost.
While it runs
A line at the top of the page shows Adding companies… 12 of 40 with a progress bar. You can leave the page or keep working. Only one add can run at a time in a workspace. Companies are handled in batches of 25.
When it finishes, you get a notification in your Activity (the bell), for example 3 new companies were added to the CRM. and 3 people who run them were saved as contacts. If the credits ran out partway, it adds This month’s credits ran out, so the rest weren’t added. They refill next month. What was already added is kept. See Notifications.
What gets created
- Companies in your Companies table, in the group you chose. Each one is filled with what was found, such as name, website, LinkedIn page, description, industry, size, founding year, city, country, phone, address and revenue. Only fields your Companies table actually has are filled.
- A Company profile note on each company, with everything else that was found. It is written in your language.
- Contacts in your Contacts table, when Key people is on: name, job title, LinkedIn profile, work email and the link to their company.
- A company or person that already exists in your workspace is not added twice. Their empty fields are filled in, and what you typed yourself is not overwritten.
- Everyone with access to the group sees the new records.
Save a search
- Set your filters and your add choices (Key people, Work emails, Group).
- Under Saved searches, click Save this search. Give it a name, up to 80 characters, for example Oslo accounting firms.
- Optionally turn on Share with your team. Your whole team can then open it from their list.
- Click Save.
To use it later, open the Saved searches list, search by name if you like, and click one. Your own searches are listed under Yours, and shared ones under Shared with your team with the name of who saved them. New search starts with a blank page.
When you change a loaded search, Edited appears with Save changes (updates it) and Save as new (keeps a copy). Hover over a search in the list to see the pencil (Rename or share) and the bin (Delete). Deleting a shared search removes it for everyone.
Rules:
- Names must be different from your other searches, and from other shared searches. Capitals do not matter.
- You can keep 50 searches of your own, and your team can share 100.
- Only an Admin or Editor can share a search. Only the person who saved a search, or an Admin, can rename, share or delete it. Everyone else can use it or save a copy.
- If a saved Group is gone or you cannot add to it, the search uses your default group instead.

Troubleshooting
Something went wrong. Try again. The page could not load its settings. Reload it.
Finding companies isn’t available right now. The lead service did not answer. Wait a moment and search again.
Too many searches. Try again in a moment. You or your team searched or added very often. Wait a minute.
Some filters aren’t quite right. Check them and try again. A value is outside the allowed range, such as a year before 1800. Fix it and search again.
No new companies to show. The matches may already be in your workspace. Widen the filters, or try different keywords.
This month’s credits have run out. They refill next month. Showing more and adding stop. Searching and counting stay free.
Companies are already being added. Wait for that to finish first. Another add is still running. Wait for its notification, then start yours.
There’s already a search with that name. Choose a different name.
You’ve saved as many searches as you can. Delete one first. Delete an old saved search.
You don’t have permission to do that. Adding companies needs an Admin or Editor role.
You don’t have a group you can add companies to. Ask an admin to give you edit access to a group that shows the Companies table.
Fewer people or companies than expected. Not every company has people the roles match, and some people have no findable email. Only what is found is charged. A company with no website or name may be skipped.
Industry is empty on an added company. When none of your Industry choices is close to what was found, the field stays empty. The full details are in the company’s note.
