Questions, answered
A few things people ask before they start.
Forms are a small step that gives every website answer a clear place in your sales process.
What happens when someone submits a form?
The form creates new records from the way you set it up. Related records are created and linked to the main record, so the answers arrive ready for follow-up.
Does a submission update a contact I already have?
No. A form always creates new records and does not match or update an existing contact or company. Decide how you will handle duplicates before you share the form widely.
Can the form fill in fields for me?
Yes. A field can be filled automatically with a fixed value, the date and time of the submission, or a mix of answers and text. Submission times use UTC.
Can it link related records?
Yes. A form can follow the relationships you already have, up to three levels deep, and create each linked record when someone submits.
How do I put a form on my website?
After you save, open the Use it! step. You can embed the form in a page, share a public link, or copy code for a page you control. Embeds come in five ready-made looks.
Who can build a form?
Workspace administrators create and edit forms. Everyone else can see the records that submissions create, based on the access they already have.
Can I stop a link that has been shared too widely?
Yes. Reset the public link and the old link or embed stops working. Records already submitted stay in your workspace.
What if my form will not save?
Check that it has a name, a main group and object, and at least one valid destination. Every required field on the destination needs a visitor question or an automatic value.
