Chrome Extension

The Chrome Extension lets a seller bring prospect and company information into the CRM while researching on the web. It opens as a browser side panel, follows the active browser tab, and helps you review, match, enrich, and import information without switching back and forth between a web page and the CRM.

It supports two capture paths:

  • Professional profile and company pages: LinkedIn profile pages and company pages use a dedicated page reader. A profile can provide information such as name, headline, location, profile URL, current company, current position, and an avatar when available. A company page can provide information such as name, description, website, industry, headquarters, and company size when the page exposes those values.
  • Other regular web pages: The extension captures readable text and links from the active page and maps the content to the tables already defined in your workspace. Depending on the page and your workspace structure, the result may contain contacts, companies, deals, or other records.

The extension is a capture and import tool, not a replacement for the CRM. It does not scan browser-internal pages such as chrome:// pages, and it does not scan the CRM page itself. It works on regular http:// and https:// web pages.

Use cases

The examples below follow a common small-business sales process: research a prospect, start outreach, hold a meeting, send a proposal, and track the opportunity in the CRM.

Situation How the extension helps Practical result What to check
Research before outreach Open a prospect’s profile, review the captured role and company, check for similar records, and import the contact into the correct outreach group. The seller can start with the prospect’s context instead of manually copying every field. Confirm the person is not already in the CRM and verify the destination group before importing.
Build a company list Open company pages one by one, capture company details, and add each company to a research or target-account group. A founder can build a focused account list during normal web research. Check the company name and website. A page can expose incomplete or outdated information.
Avoid duplicate contacts Let the extension search the workspace for similar records before importing. Open a suggested match when it looks like the same person or company. Existing history stays on one record instead of being split across duplicates. Similar-record suggestions are helpful, but they are not a final identity decision. Compare the profile URL, email, company, and other identifiers.
Enrich an existing contact On a profile page with a valid profile URL, enable AI Enrichment or choose Re-enrich when the contact already exists. The contact can receive additional professional information in the background while the seller continues working. Review the changed fields after enrichment and do not treat uncertain information as confirmed fact.
Capture information from a website or directory Open a page with readable information about a person, company, product, or opportunity. Let the extension map the page to the workspace tables. The seller can turn research notes into structured CRM records instead of leaving them in browser bookmarks or notes. The generic capture focuses on readable text and links; images, video, interactive widgets, and hidden content may not be included.
Import several items from one page On a page containing several identifiable items, deselect entries that are not relevant, choose the destination table and group, and preview the selected records. A list page or directory can become a reviewable batch of CRM records. Check every selected item. The extension may initially select all discovered items.
Keep outreach work organised Import the contact into the group used for the next outreach step, link the company when appropriate, and open the resulting record to add the next action. Research, ownership, relationship data, and follow-up remain connected to the sales process. Use the group that the team actually works from; importing into a personal or unrelated group makes the lead harder to find.

A realistic prospecting scenario

Imagine that a founder is researching ten potential customers before a short outreach campaign:

  1. The founder opens a prospect’s LinkedIn profile in Chrome.
  2. The extension captures the profile and searches the workspace for similar contacts.
  3. The founder opens the suggested match if the person is already known. If there is no correct match, they choose a contacts table and the group used for new outreach.
  4. They select Preview & Import and correct a job title or company relationship before saving.
  5. If the company is already in the workspace, they link the contact to that company. If it is not, they choose whether to create a company record and which group should receive it.
  6. They open the new contact record, add the outreach plan, and continue with the email or sales process.

The extension saves time because the seller remains in the research flow, but the review step protects the quality of the CRM. The page is only a source of clues; the seller remains responsible for deciding whether the record is the right person, the right company, and the right sales target.

Getting Started

Before you begin

You need:

  • Google Chrome with permission to install extensions.
  • A user account in the correct workspace.
  • A destination group that contains the contacts or companies table you want to use.
  • Editor-level access to that group so you can create records there. Workspace membership by itself may not be enough.
  • A normal web page to capture. For a LinkedIn profile or company page, make sure the page is visible to your browser and has finished loading.

If you are new to the CRM, create the workspace and its basic tables first. If the correct contacts or companies group does not exist, ask a workspace or group administrator to create it, add the relevant table, and give you the group access needed to add records.

Install the extension

  1. Open the CRM in Chrome and sign in.
  2. Open Settings → Downloads.
  3. Find the Chrome Extension card and select Open. If the card is not available, the extension may not be enabled for your account; see Troubleshooting.
  4. On the Chrome Web Store page, select the button to add the extension to Chrome.
  5. Read Chrome’s permission dialog and confirm only if you are comfortable with the requested access. The extension needs page access so it can read the page you ask it to capture, along with browser-tab, side-panel, and local-storage access needed to operate.
  6. Pin the extension if you want it beside the address bar. You can also open it from Chrome’s extension menu or side panel.

The extension icon is enabled on regular web pages. It is disabled on browser-internal pages and other restricted locations where Chrome does not allow a page script to run.

Sign in and choose a workspace

The extension uses the signed-in CRM session to access your workspace. The simplest setup is:

  1. Open the CRM in a Chrome tab.
  2. Sign in to the account that should create and review records.
  3. Leave that tab open while you first open the extension.
  4. If the extension shows an authentication screen, select Open app, sign in, and return to the extension.
  5. Use the workspace selector in the extension header to choose the workspace where the records should be created.

The extension checks the signed-in CRM tab when it opens and when the browser tab or window becomes active. If you sign out of the CRM tab, the extension can become unauthenticated as well. Selecting Sign out in the extension clears the extension’s local session; it does not sign you out of the CRM in another tab.

If the workspace selector says that there are no workspaces, create or join one in the main CRM first. If you have several workspaces, check the selected workspace before importing: the available groups and tables come from that selected workspace.

Understand the permission request

The extension is designed to work on many kinds of web pages, so Chrome may show broad wording about reading or changing data on websites. In practical terms, the extension uses this access to:

  • identify the current active web page;
  • read the page content when you ask it to capture or rescan;
  • read a supported profile or company page;
  • communicate with the signed-in CRM tab;
  • keep the side panel, workspace choice, and capture state working across tab changes; and
  • send the captured content to the CRM’s mapping or enrichment service.

The generic page reader focuses on readable page text and links. It removes forms, buttons, images, video, audio, embedded frames, and hidden or interactive overlays from the generic capture. A profile or company page uses its dedicated reader and may include an avatar or company logo URL when available. Review the result before importing, especially when the source page contains sensitive or customer information.

How to use it

1. Open the extension on the page you want to research

  1. Open the source page in the active Chrome tab.
  2. Open the extension side panel.
  3. Wait while it shows Capturing the information… and then Analyzing the information….
  4. If you change the page, switch tabs, or the page finishes loading late, select Rescan page in the extension header.

The side panel follows the active tab. Before importing, look at the page address and the first result in the panel so you know that the extension is reading the page you intended.

2. Capture a LinkedIn profile

The dedicated profile path is intended for a URL shaped like:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/person-name

Use it as follows:

  1. Open the person’s profile page.
  2. Open the extension and wait for the profile card to load.
  3. Review the captured name, headline, current company, current position, location, profile URL, and any other available values.
  4. Review Similar Records while the extension searches the workspace.
  5. If the correct person is already present, select the suggested record to open it. Use that existing record rather than creating a second contact.
  6. If there is no correct match, continue to Import Settings.
  7. Select the destination group. Only groups where you have the required record-editing access and where the relevant table is available can be selected.
  8. If the group contains more than one suitable table, select the contacts entity/table to receive the profile.
  9. Review whether AI Enrichment should be enabled. This option is shown for a captured profile with a profile URL; it is not shown for a company capture.
  10. Select Preview & Import to review the proposed contact, or choose Import directly without preview only when the mapping and destination are already trusted.

The profile reader is not a promise that every section of a profile will be available. In particular, do not assume that the complete work history, education, skills, or contact details were captured. Correct missing or incorrect values in the preview or in the CRM record.

3. Capture a LinkedIn company page

The dedicated company path accepts a company URL such as:

https://www.linkedin.com/company/company-name
  1. Open the company page and let the extension finish scanning.
  2. Review the company name, tagline or description, website, industry, headquarters, company size, logo, and other available values.
  3. Check Similar Records for an existing company.
  4. Open the matching company if it is already in the workspace.
  5. Otherwise select a destination group and, when needed, the companies entity/table.
  6. Use Preview & Import to correct the company details before creating the record.

LinkedIn feed pages, search pages, job pages, and other non-profile/non-company routes do not use the dedicated reader. The extension intentionally avoids treating those pages as a person or company. For general web-page capture, open a supported source page with readable content instead.

4. Capture information from another web page

For a company website, directory, public page, webmail message, or another regular page:

  1. Open the page and make sure the relevant text is visible.
  2. Open the extension. It captures the main readable content, or the page body when no main content area is available.
  3. Wait for the information to be analysed.
  4. If several kinds of records are found, use the tabs in the result to move between them, such as contacts, companies, or deals.
  5. Select or deselect individual items. Items may start selected, so remove anything that should not enter the CRM.
  6. Choose the destination group.
  7. Choose the destination table/entity when the selected group has more than one suitable table.
  8. Review Similar Records and open a match instead of importing a duplicate.
  9. Select Preview & Import and review each proposed record, or use direct import for a trusted, low-risk source.

The mapping step uses the existing tables and fields in the selected workspace. It does not know the business meaning of an empty or ambiguous value unless the page and table structure make that meaning clear. Treat the result as a proposed import and check names, URLs, email addresses, company relationships, stages, and owners before saving.

5. Choose preview import or direct import

Select Preview & Import when you are using a page or mapping for the first time, when the page contains several people, or when creating a company relationship.

The preview opens a review screen for each proposed record:

  1. Read the destination table and group shown for the record.
  2. Check every field that matters to the sales process.
  3. Correct values that were truncated, placed in the wrong field, or inferred from the wrong part of the page.
  4. Review any related records shown by the importer.
  5. Continue through the records with the available next controls.
  6. Use Back to revisit an earlier preview or Cancel to leave without completing the import.

Previewed records are created as you complete the review. If the preview contains a contact and a new related company, the related record may be reviewed first so that the contact can be linked to it. Do not assume that closing the panel means an unfinished review will resume later; complete the review or cancel it deliberately.

Direct import: fast but less forgiving

Select Import directly without preview only when the source page, destination, and mapping have already been checked. Direct import creates records immediately and can also create or link related company records. If the import fails after some related work has completed, inspect the workspace before trying again so you do not create duplicates.

When the imported value is a select or multi-select choice that does not yet exist in the destination table, the importer can add a corresponding choice to the table before creating the record. Preview first if changing the table’s available choices would be unexpected.

When a profile contains a company relationship, the extension searches for similar company records.

If it finds more than one plausible company:

  1. Read the company names, websites, and groups shown in Choose company to link.
  2. Select the company that is genuinely the person’s current employer.
  3. Select Link and import.

If no correct company exists:

  1. Read Choose group for new company.
  2. Select the group that should receive the company record.
  3. Select Create company and import.

The group for the new company can be different from the group used for the contact. Choose deliberately: the contact may belong in an outreach group while the company belongs in a target-account group. If you do not have access to a suitable company group, cancel the import and ask an administrator or group owner for help.

7. Use AI Enrichment for a profile

AI Enrichment is available in Import Settings when the extension has captured a profile with a valid LinkedIn profile URL.

For a new contact:

  1. Choose the correct destination group first.
  2. Turn on AI Enrichment if you want background enrichment after the contact is imported.
  3. Use preview import when the contact or company relationship needs review.
  4. Complete the import.
  5. Leave the extension open or return later to see whether the status changes to Enriching profile or Profile enriched. The status may show an approximate time such as usually ~20s; this is an estimate, not a guarantee.

For an existing contact:

  1. Select the existing matching record or open it from the extension.
  2. Confirm that the profile URL belongs to the same person.
  3. Select Re-enrich when it is available.
  4. Wait for the background task to finish before starting another enrichment for the same profile.
  5. Review the updated record in the CRM.

Enrichment uses a background workspace task. It can be delayed by network issues, incomplete source data, or the workspace limit on active enrichment tasks. Do not treat an enrichment result as verified customer information without reviewing it.

8. Use similar records safely

The extension searches records that are visible to the current workspace session and shows suggestions under Similar Records. It can use values such as a name, company name, profile URL, website, domain, email, or other searchable fields depending on the capture path and table.

Use the suggestions as a duplicate-prevention checkpoint:

  1. Wait for Searching existing records… to finish.
  2. Open a suggestion that looks relevant.
  3. Compare the source URL, full name, company, email, and existing record history.
  4. Use the existing record when it is the same person or company.
  5. Continue with a new import only when the match is wrong or represents a different entity.

The search is a helpful candidate list, not a guarantee that every duplicate will be found. A person with a changed name, a different URL, or incomplete workspace data may not appear as a match.

9. Switch workspace or open the full CRM

Select the workspace name in the extension header to open the workspace menu.

  • Switch workspace/organisation: choose another workspace. The extension refreshes its tables, groups, and similar-record search for that workspace.
  • Setting: opens the main CRM settings page in a new browser tab.
  • Invite Member: opens the workspace member settings in a new browser tab.
  • Sign out: signs the extension out locally.

Use the full CRM when you need to edit a complex record, review its timeline, manage group access, change a table, or investigate an import in detail. The extension is designed for quick capture and first-pass review.

Troubleshooting

The Chrome Extension card is missing from Downloads

Check that:

  1. You are signed in to the intended workspace.
  2. You opened Settings → Downloads in Chrome, not a different application or browser.
  3. The page has finished loading.

The Downloads page only shows the extension when a browser-store address is configured for your account. If the card is still missing, ask a workspace administrator or support contact whether the extension is available for your account.

Chrome will not install the extension

Make sure you are using Chrome and that your browser account is allowed to install extensions. If Chrome blocks the installation because of an organisation policy, a browser administrator must approve it. If you cancelled the permission dialog, open the store listing again and accept the permissions only after reviewing them.

The extension opens but says that you are not signed in

  1. Open the CRM in a normal Chrome tab.
  2. Sign in to the correct account.
  3. Confirm that the workspace tab is fully loaded.
  4. Reopen or focus the extension side panel.
  5. If necessary, select Open app in the extension and sign in again.

The extension synchronises with a signed-in CRM tab. If the CRM tab is open but signed out, the extension treats that as the current account state even if an old local extension session exists.

The extension icon or side panel is disabled

The extension is enabled on regular http:// and https:// pages. Chrome does not allow it to run on browser-internal pages such as chrome://settings, a new-tab page, or another restricted scheme. Navigate to the public page or application page you want to research and open the side panel there.

If the icon remains disabled on a normal web page, reload the page, close and reopen the side panel, and check that the extension is still enabled in Chrome’s extension management page.

The panel is scanning the wrong page

The extension follows the active tab. Check the address bar before scanning, then:

  1. Select Rescan page.
  2. Wait for both capture and analysis to finish.
  3. Check that the result name, company, or page content matches the active tab.

If you changed tabs while the scan was running, run the scan again after returning to the intended page.

No information was captured from a web page

The generic reader focuses on readable text in the page’s main content or body. It may return little or no information when:

  • the page is still loading or fills its content only after an interaction;
  • the relevant content is inside an embedded frame, image, video, or interactive widget;
  • the page requires a login that the browser has not completed;
  • the page exposes mostly navigation and buttons rather than readable content; or
  • the page is a restricted browser page or the CRM page itself.

Wait for the content to appear, sign in to the source if appropriate, and select Rescan page. If the page still cannot be read, copy the important facts into the CRM manually or use a page with a clear text representation.

A LinkedIn profile or company page was not recognised

Confirm that the URL is a real profile or company route:

  • Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/<profile-name>
  • Company: https://www.linkedin.com/company/<company-name>

The dedicated reader does not treat feeds, search results, job pages, or other LinkedIn routes as a person or company. Wait until the profile or company page is fully loaded, then select Rescan page. If the page layout has changed or the page does not expose the required fields, review the available values and fill the missing fields in the CRM.

The wrong fields were suggested

Use Preview & Import and correct the values before saving. Common causes include a page showing several people, a company name appearing in more than one place, or a field label that is not clear from the page.

Check the destination table as well. The generic mapping uses the tables and fields already defined in the workspace; it cannot reliably infer a custom business meaning from an ambiguous field name. If the same mapping is repeatedly wrong, ask the workspace administrator to review the table fields and import design.

No destination group or table can be selected

The extension only shows groups where the current user can create records and where the relevant table is available. Check:

  1. The correct workspace is selected.
  2. The group contains a contacts table for a profile or a companies table for a company page.
  3. You are a member of the group with editor-level access or higher.
  4. The table has not been deleted or moved.

Ask a group administrator to add you with the required role, create the missing table, or add the table to the group. Workspace membership alone may not grant permission to create records in a private group.

The extension says that the contact is already in the CRM

This is a safety check, not an import failure. Open the suggested record and compare it with the source profile. If it is the same person, continue using that record. If it is a different person with a similar name, return to the import flow and review the profile URL, company, and other identifiers before creating a new record.

The import created a duplicate

Stop importing the same page and inspect Similar Records and the main CRM. Do not immediately retry a direct import after an error: a related record or the main record may already have been created.

For the next attempt:

  1. Use preview import.
  2. Compare the profile URL, email, website, and company relationship.
  3. Open an existing match rather than creating another record.
  4. Check whether another browser tab or teammate imported the same person at the same time.

If duplicates already exist, merge or clean them up using the CRM’s normal record-management tools.

Read the candidate’s name, website, and existing group before selecting it. A similar company name is not enough. Cancel the dialog when no candidate is correct, then choose Create company and import only if a new company record is genuinely needed. If the correct company exists but is not shown, search for it in the main CRM and verify that it is visible to your workspace session.

The import failed or a field value was rejected

Read the error shown below Import Settings. Check for:

  • a missing required value;
  • a value that does not match the destination field type;
  • a select or multi-select value that was mapped unexpectedly;
  • a missing relationship or deleted record;
  • an expired session; or
  • insufficient group access.

Correct the value in preview or in the main CRM, then start a new import. Before retrying direct import, search for the person and company so you do not repeat a partially completed import.

AI Enrichment is not shown

The option is shown only for a captured profile with a profile URL. Confirm that:

  1. You are on a profile page, not a company page or a general web page.
  2. The captured profile includes a valid https://www.linkedin.com/in/... URL.
  3. A destination group is selected.
  4. The profile is a contact capture rather than a company capture.

If the contact already exists, open the matching record and look for Re-enrich. If the option is still absent, rescan the profile and verify the URL in the result.

Enrichment is still running or failed

Background enrichment can take time. Keep the destination group selected and wait for the status to change. The panel can show Starting enrichment…, Enriching profile…, Profile enriched, or Profile exists depending on the current state.

If it fails:

  1. Confirm that the profile URL belongs to the intended contact.
  2. Confirm that you can edit the destination group.
  3. Wait for other active enrichment tasks in the workspace to finish.
  4. Select Re-enrich once the earlier task is no longer active.
  5. Review the contact in the main CRM for any fields that were updated before the error.

Do not start several enrichment attempts at once for the same profile. If the workspace repeatedly reaches its active-task limit or the same error returns, send the error text and the affected profile URL to your administrator or support contact.

The preview contains more records than expected

Some ordinary web pages contain several contacts, companies, or other identifiable items. The extension may select all discovered items initially. Deselect every item that is not part of the sales process, then check the destination group and table before previewing. If the page is too broad, use a detail page for one person or company instead of a list page.

I closed the panel during an import

Reopen the extension and inspect the destination group and the main CRM. A completed record may already exist even if the panel was closed. Search by profile URL, email, company website, or name before starting another import. If a preview was not completed, repeat it with preview mode and confirm the resulting records carefully.

I am unsure what the extension changed

Open the affected record in the main CRM and review its fields, group membership, and related company. Check whether a new select choice or related record was created. If you cannot explain the result, stop further imports, record the source URL and time, and ask an administrator or support contact to inspect the workspace activity and records before retrying.

Privacy and safe-use checklist

Before importing or enriching a record:

  • Use the narrowest source page and destination group that fit the sales task.
  • Review the person or company identity before creating a record.
  • Prefer Preview & Import for a new page type, a batch, or a customer-facing sales process.
  • Check profile URLs, email addresses, websites, company relationships, owners, and stages.
  • Treat similar-record results as suggestions, not proof of identity.
  • Do not import passwords, access tokens, private messages, or unrelated personal information.
  • Be careful with webmail and social pages: only capture information your business is allowed to process.
  • Review any new select choices or related company records created during an import.
  • Use AI Enrichment as a research aid and verify important facts before relying on them in outreach or a proposal.
  • Keep the main CRM open when first setting up the extension so the account and workspace session are easy to verify.

For detailed record, group, and table work, use Records, Groups, and Views. For email-based sales work, see Email Integration. For background enrichment and workspace automation concepts, see Assistant and Autopilot.
