Copper charges you more
the more customers you have.

Copper is a well-made CRM that lives inside Gmail, and if your whole company runs on Google Workspace there's a real case for it. We make that case at the bottom. First, the four things worth knowing before you put your customer list in it.

Their cheapest plan
holds 2,500 contacts.

Not 2,500 per seat. 2,500 in total, for the whole company. Think about how fast that goes: every person who ever emailed you, every lead from a trade show, every past customer you'd like to win back. Most businesses that have been trading five years are past it on the day they import. And when you cross it you don't pay a bit more.

Basic$23per seat, annual

2,500 contacts, for the whole company. $1,380 a year for five people.

Professional$59per seat, annual

15,000 contacts. Two and a half times the per-seat price, for the same five people doing the same work, because your customer list got bigger. $3,540 a year.

Business$99per seat, annual

Unlimited contacts. $5,940 a year for five people, for the privilege of not counting your own customers.

copper.com/pricing, read 10 September 2026. Annual prices shown; monthly is $29, $69 and $134. We cap records too and we're not going to pretend otherwise: 25,000 per object on our free plan, 250,000 on Pro, a million on Business. The difference is the number, and our free plan holds ten times what their $29 plan holds. copper.com/pricing · softsync.ai/pricing

If your company runs on Outlook,
this isn't a CRM for you.

Copper is a Google product in everything but ownership. Their homepage carries a Recommended for Google Workspace badge, and the feature list is built around it: a Chrome extension that puts Copper inside Gmail, Gmail sync, Google Calendar sync, Google Contacts sync, Drive, Sheets. Here's the thing nobody says out loud. We counted the words on their own pricing page.

  • Outlook, on their pricing page. zero mentions
  • Microsoft. zero mentions
  • Office 365. zero mentions
  • Google, on the same page. 24 mentions
  • Gmail. 17 mentions

Counted from the text of copper.com/pricing on 10 September 2026, and the same zeros hold on their homepage. Check it with a browser find. Not limited support: not mentioned at all. If your team is on Microsoft 365, your email and calendar are the two things a CRM most needs to see, and this one wasn't built to see them. We connect Gmail and Outlook both, on every plan including the free one.

Automation, bulk email, reporting
and integrations are all one tier up.

This is what the $23 plan is, in full: pipelines, project management, contact enrichment, task automation and 2,500 contacts. Here is what it isn't.

From copper.com/pricing, read 10 September 2026. Read the fourth row again: connecting Copper to the other software you already run is a paid tier. So is sending the same email to more than one person at a time. Every one of those is on our free plan. Our tiers give you more room. They don't give you permission.

There's no agent, and
no sign of one coming.

You already pay for ChatGPT or Claude. The question worth asking about any CRM in 2026 is whether that assistant can actually use it. Across Copper's pricing page and homepage, the words MCP, Claude, ChatGPT and AI agent appear zero times. What they do have is an AI email template generator and an AI email re-writer, both fine, both things ChatGPT already does better. So this isn't us claiming our agent is better than theirs. There isn't one to compare against. With SoftSync you connect Claude or ChatGPT and it runs the CRM, on every plan, spending the AI subscription you already pay for.

Gmail and Outlook,
on every plan.

Both mailboxes, both calendars, including on the free plan. We don't have an opinion about which email your company chose.

And 25,000 records per object before you pay us anything, which is ten times what their cheapest plan holds.

SoftSync: contacts, deals and stages in one fast table

Five people,
one year.

We're comparing Copper Professional, because it's the cheapest plan with workflow automation, bulk email and integrations, and those are usually the whole reason anyone buys a CRM.

When you should
pick Copper instead.

The first one is their real strength and it's a good one.

  • Your company lives in Gmail and you want the CRM to live there too. The Chrome extension puts Copper inside Gmail so your team never leaves the inbox, and for a lot of small teams that's the difference between a CRM that gets updated and one that doesn't. We connect to Gmail. We don't live inside it.
  • You want project management in the same tool. It's on their entry plan. Ours is a CRM.
  • You want an established vendor. Thirty thousand companies, years of public reviews, and an onboarding consultant on eligible annual plans. We're young and we don't have any of that yet.
  • You need a specific connector on day one. Their Zapier partnership reaches 5,000+ other apps on Professional. We have no integrations directory at all. We gave your assistant a way in instead. For many businesses that's better. If you need one named tool wired up tomorrow, check with us first, because the answer is usually no.

Questions.

Is 2,500 contacts really that few?
Count your inbox. Most businesses trading a few years import more than that on day one, and every trade show, referral and old customer adds to it. The cap isn't the problem so much as what's on the other side of it: the per-seat price goes from $23 to $59.
You cap records too. Isn't that the same thing?
Same idea, different scale. Our free plan holds 25,000 records per object, which is ten times their $29 plan, and Pro holds 250,000. We'd rather show you both numbers than pretend we have no limits.
We're on Google Workspace. Doesn't that make Copper the obvious pick?
It's a genuine point in their favour and we've said so above. Just weigh it against the other things on this page, because being Gmail-native doesn't raise your contact cap or let your ChatGPT do the work.
Can we move from Copper to SoftSync?
Yes. People, companies, opportunities, notes and activity come across from an export. Your pipeline configuration, custom field layout and any workflow automations don't.
What does Copper cost, exactly?
From their pricing page, read 10 September 2026: Basic $23 per seat per month annually and $29 monthly, 2,500 contacts. Professional $59 and $69, 15,000 contacts. Business $99 and $134, unlimited contacts. No free plan, and a 14-day trial.

Count your contacts
before you pick a plan.

Open your email, export your contacts, and look at the number. If it's under 2,500 and everyone you work with is in Gmail, Copper is a fine choice. If it's over 2,500, or anyone on your team opens Outlook, or you'd like the ChatGPT you already pay for to do some of this, that's us. Free forever, and we won't count your customers.
